Traditional Scottish social dancing (Scottish Country dancing)
Classes are held in Holy Trinity Church Hall (Markington Village Hall on 4th Wednesday in
month). The evenings teach the traditional social dances of Scotland and the steps and formations needed for them in a friendly and enjoyable environment. Whilst most dances involve you dancing, with a partner, in sets of typically eight dancers, this form of dancing does not require you to come as a couple (though couples are welcome), as part of its social ethos is that you mix and dance with many partners through the evening. Apart from encouraging the
overall friendly atmosphere, this enables the more experienced dancers to help those less experienced - especially beginners. The charge is £3.00 per evening, which includes "a cuppa" and a biscuit at the interval.
