Theme – ‘Olympic Nations’

Welcome to the website for the Great Knaresborough Bed Race. The 2012 event will be staged on the second Saturday in June (9th June 2012). Countries taking part in this year’s summer Olympics will be allocated each to one successful team for the 2012 event. Teams can base their bed design and fancy dress on anything connected with that country – history, culture, geography, landscape, social or sport. Bathed in beautiful sunshine, the 2011 Great Knaresborough Bed Race was one of the most successful events in its 46-year history. The Race has been captured on DVD and is available priced £5 at the Art in the Mill in Knaresborough, or at the Knaresborough and Harrogate Tourist Information Centres. All proceeds are for the Lions Charity Fund. The Art in the Mill is in the centre of Knaresborough on the cobbled Green Dragon Yard off Castlegate, between the Market Place and the Castle. Opening times are Tuesdays to Saturdays, 9.30am-5.30pm, Sundays & Bank Holidays 11am-5pm. Alternatively, copies can be obtained through the post for £7 including post and packing, by sending a cheque made out to Knaresborough Lions Club to: Nigel Perry Springfield Ripley Road Knaresborough HG5 9BY
